HEATHER ZIMMERMAN

Heather Zimmerman grew up in Richmond, Virginia where she started dancing at the age of 14 and training in Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Contemporary, Lyrical and Hip-Hop at Chesterfield Dance Center. She spent her teen years competing in a multitude of dance competitions along the East Coast. Her summers were filled training at the Richmond Ballet and Point Park University. She attended the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA where she graduated cum laude with a BFA in Modern Performance. She trained under Jennifer Binford Johnson from the Martha Graham Dance Company, Zane Booker of Philadanco, Brain Sanders of Junk and previous performer of Momix, Curt Haworth, Kim - Bears Bailey of Philadanco, among many others. She has both performed and choreographed for stages including the Drake Theater and the Merriam Theater in Philadelphia. Upon graduation she returned to Virginia where she began teaching Modern at The Dance Company as well as performed for RVA Dance Collective under the direction of Jess Burgess and Danica Kalemdaroglu. She then moved to Los Angeles where she signed with The S Agency, danced for Zooey Deschanel and performed with the traveling professional Modern Company, Kybele Dance Theater. While in Los Angeles, Heather started regularly practicing yoga to enhance her dancing as well as nurse a low back injury. She fell in love with yoga and she has now completed 500 hours with the YogaWorks Teacher Training Professional Program.
