About The Dance Company.
Dreams begin here . . . The Dance Company’s mission is to share with each student our passion for dancing as well as create a love for dance. We believe that an education in dance benefits all aspects of one’s life. Dancing builds self confidence while promoting a healthy body image. We encourage teamwork and positive life skills that will help our students succeed in all aspects of life. For our parents, we strive to provide an affordable, organized, enjoyable program so they may completely take part in the achievements and accomplishments of their children. With a specialized staff of gifted teachers, she is able to share those talents and aptitude to make TDC a successful Dance Studio for teaching excellence. She desires first of all to foster the love of dance through technical training and the development of one’s creativity in the artistry of dance. Glenda earned her Bachelor’s degree from VCU in Interdisciplinary Studies with concentrations in dance education. She is proficient in all venues of dance. Under her leadership TDC has prepared young women for careers in dance at Shenandoah, James Madison and others through their participation in our Company programs. Glenda has developed our Competition program producing many awards in excellence both individually and collectively, including coaching and choreographing a National Award winning production. While she thrives in the personal, hands on teacher roll, Glenda also knows how valuable it is to train her staff and students in the essentials of teaching dance fundamentals, teamwork, personal integrity and responsibility. She takes great pride in the accomplishments of The Dance Company students and staff.
Glenda has danced with Gregory Hines as well as participated in classes taught by notables such as Savion Glover, David Covington, and Yvonne Edwards; Bakari Wilder from “Bring in Da Noise, Bring in Da Funk”, Carol Vaughn, Cartier Williams, Robert Reed and Smokey Stevens, Brenda Bufalino, Genna Carney from “Riverdance”, and “42nd Street” cast, Aysha Upchurch.
When Glenda was a wee little girl she loved to dance. When Dina was a wee little girl she loved to sell turtles from the trunk of her dad's car. Sisters who were meant to be in business together.
Together they opened The Dance Company in 2010. Our students have come from all over Hanover County and have now gone to schools all over the country.
As our kids have grown in size, so have they in number and we are now proud to offer four studios and a variety of classes.
This year we offer 95 different classes to kids of all ages.
